A Proper Deep Clean, Not a Surface Wipe
Most carpets do not look tired because of stains. They look tired because years of grit has worked its way down into the base of the pile and started cutting the fibres every time somebody walks across it. A domestic machine or a hired one pulls at the top layer and leaves the rest where it is. A truckmount system heats the water, injects it under pressure and extracts it again in the same pass, so the soil comes out of the bottom of the carpet rather than being pushed further into it.
That is the whole reason I run truckmounted equipment rather than something that plugs into your socket. The machine stays in the van with its own heat, water and vacuum, so it is not limited by a thirteen-amp plug. Stronger extraction also means far less water left behind, which is why carpets here are usually dry again in two to three hours rather than sitting damp overnight.
Every carpet gets the same eight-stage process regardless of how big the job is: inspection, pre-vacuum, spot treatment, solution, agitation, hot water rinse, groom and drying. Skipping the dry vacuum stage is the most common shortcut in this trade and it is the one that most affects the result.
Pricing is fixed per room and agreed before I unload, from £30 for a box bedroom up to £75 for a through room, so there is no hourly meter running and no revised figure at the end.

What Happens If It's Left
Carpet is expensive to replace and cheap to maintain. Leaving it is what does the damage.
Grit cuts the fibres
Embedded sand and grit acts like sandpaper underfoot. Every footstep drags it across the fibre, and that wear is permanent, no clean brings back a pile that has already been cut.
Stains set permanently
The longer a spill sits, the more it bonds to the fibre and, on some carpets, dyes it. Treated early, most things lift completely. Treated a year later, some never will.
Odour builds in the backing
Pet accidents soak straight past the pile into the backing and the underlay. Surface cleaning masks it for a week and then it comes back, usually on the first warm day.
Deposits and disputes
At the end of a tenancy, carpets are the first thing an inventory clerk photographs. A clean that costs tens of pounds regularly protects hundreds in deposit.
How it works
Start To Finish
- Fixed price per room. You know the cost before I unload, with no hourly meter running and no revision at the end of the job.
- Back in use the same day. Two to three hours' drying, not a room out of action overnight or furniture stacked in the hall until morning.
- Truckmount power. Heat and suction that a plug-in machine cannot produce, which is what gets soil out of the base of the pile.
- One person, start to finish. Paul quotes it and Paul does it. Nobody else gets handed your keys or your job.
- Put right if needed. "If there's anything you're not happy about, let me know, it's never an issue to come back and put something right."

1. Inspection
I walk the rooms with you, check the fibre and construction, and flag anything up front that may not fully lift.

2. Pre-vacuum
Dry soil comes out first. It is the single biggest difference between a good result and an average one, and it is the stage most often skipped.

Problem areas are pre-treated individually with the right product for the mark before the main clean starts.

Matched to the fibre and the level of soiling, then given time to dwell and break the soil down properly.

The solution is worked through the pile so it reaches the base of the carpet rather than sitting on the tips.

Truckmount extraction flushes the soil out under pressure and pulls the moisture straight back into the van.

The pile is reset in one direction so it dries evenly and does not look patchy when it comes up.

The Detail Behind the Result
Two things decide how a carpet comes up: heat and extraction. Everything else is process around those two.
Why truckmount matters
The machine stays in the van and generates its own heat, water pressure and vacuum, so it is not limited by what a domestic socket can deliver. Hotter water breaks down the oils and greases that cooler water simply moves around the room.
Far stronger suction means more of that dirty water actually leaves your house instead of staying in the underlay. That is what produces both the cleaner result and the two-to-three-hour drying time.
Stains, and being straight about them
Most things lift: food, drink, mud, traffic soil, general greying. Some do not, because they have changed the fibre itself rather than sitting on it, bleach marks, dye transfer from a rug or a bathmat, long-standing cigarette burns and sun fading.
I will tell you that at the inspection rather than take the money and hope you do not notice afterwards. It is a short conversation and it saves both of us a bad ending.
Fibre types and what they need
Wool and wool-rich carpets need controlled temperature and pH, because the wrong chemistry will felt or yellow them. Synthetics, polypropylene, nylon and polyester, tolerate hotter, more aggressive cleaning and come up very well with it.
Berbers, loop pile and twist all respond differently to agitation, and the grooming stage matters more on some than others. Checking the construction at the start is part of the inspection.
Pet odour and the source of the smell
Pet odour treatment is part of what I do and it works on the source in the pile and backing rather than covering it with fragrance. Cleaning the surface alone is why people think the smell always returns.
Where urine has soaked through into badly affected underlay, cleaning has a limit, and the underlay itself sometimes needs replacing. You will be told that honestly rather than sold another treatment.
Stairs, hallways and traffic lanes
Stairs take more wear per square foot than anything else in a house, and the nosing of each tread is where it shows first. Hall, stairs and landing together are £70, or £50 for stairs and landing on their own.
Traffic lanes through a living room or between doorways hold soil more densely than the rest of the room, so they get extra pre-treatment and extra passes as standard rather than as an upsell.
End of tenancy and rental property
End-of-tenancy carpet cleaning is a regular part of the work for landlords, letting agents and tenants across Wallasey, Birkenhead and Bebington, usually booked to a check-out date.
Because carpets are dry in two to three hours, a property can be cleaned, checked and re-photographed the same day rather than losing a week of a void period to drying time.

- How long will my carpets take to dry?
- Usually two to three hours. Upholstery takes a little longer, around four to five hours, because of the fabric and foam.
- How much does carpet cleaning cost in Wirral?

- Do you move furniture?
- I move what can be moved safely and clean around anything heavy or fragile. Tell me at the quote stage so I can allow the time for it.

- Pet odour removal is part of what I do. It treats the source in the carpet rather than covering it, though badly affected underlay sometimes needs replacing and I will tell you if that is the case.
- Do you need to visit before giving a price?
- No. Carpets and upholstery are fixed price, so tell me the rooms over the phone and I will give you the figure there and then. Only exterior work needs a site visit.

- In most cases yes, with extra pre-treatment and extra passes. Where the fibre has actually been cut by years of grit, the soil comes out but the wear itself does not reverse, I will point that out before starting.

- Every twelve months for a busy family home, eighteen months to two years for a quieter house. Regular cleaning removes the grit that is physically wearing the carpet out.
- Is it safe for children and pets?
- The carpets are rinsed and extracted rather than left loaded with product, and rooms are back in use within two to three hours once dry.
